Dervishes

    Unfortunately I don't know the titles of the original paintings, but I did find this site where Indian artists have copied the 2 paintings to sell:

    All I can tell you is that they are probably Mughal and depict dervishes fakirs or sufis. Good luck.
    They are wonderful paintings. They are probably in the collection of a museum somewhere, and museums often provide high res images of works, for non profit use, if you email them. Commercial rights might be harder.
    If a painter makes a copy of an old painting (and there is nothing wrong with this as long as he is not trying to pass it off as the original), I think the copyright is with the modern artist, and you don't have to worry about the rights of the museum or collector who owns the original old painting, but I could be wrong.

  3. Just to clarify - I don't mean that the copyist takes over the copyright of the original painting, but the copy is treated as a new work of art with it's own copyright.
    And usually, the artist holds copyright of the image even if he sells the physical painting.
