Shri Bhairavi

Bhairavi is a fierce and terrifying aspect of the Devi virtually indistinguishable from Kali, except for her particular identification as the consort of the Bhairava.
-Wikipedia

Here She is depicted meditating in a cremation ground, symbolic of Her annihilation of materialistic attachments. Her appearance is terrifying to discourage demonic forces.
Her husband, Bhairava (a form of Lord Shiva who incarnates on the Earth) is shown seated on the left, wearing only ashes and a garland of skulls.

Angels ministering to a Saint

Two versions of the same subject: Angels ministering to the saint, Sultan Ibrahim Ibn Adham of Balkh.

Ibrahim is one of the most well known early sufi saints. He lived in the 8th century, and gave up the throne of Balkh to become a wandering ascetic. His teaching emphasised stillness and meditation.

Some of my miniatures

These are details from miniatures I painted quite a few years ago. I used Japanese paper containing specs of mica and (I think) fine silk fibres, which show through the paint here and there, creating an interesting effect. The paper was quite absorbent so I primed it with a layer of acrylic gouache (storm blue colour) so that the watercolours would not sink in and bleed into the paper.
