These are details from miniatures I painted quite a few years ago. I used Japanese paper containing specs of mica and (I think) fine silk fibres, which show through the paint here and there, creating an interesting effect. The paper was quite absorbent so I primed it with a layer of acrylic gouache (storm blue colour) so that the watercolours would not sink in and bleed into the paper.
